Each of the 100 companies has a two- to three-page summary which gives salespeople an idea of working conditions, selling responsibilities, pay, benefits, general marketing strategy, qualifications needed, training programs, corporate culture, and territory make-up for 100 recognizable corporations in 18 principal industries from the Fortune 500. A better, less subjective survey of corporate culture and history is Selling at the Top : 100 Best Companies in America To Sell For , edited by William J. Birnes and Gary Markman ( LJ 12/85), but that book does not provide as much current or basic data for the prospective salesperson; therefore, this is highly recommended for public libraries and academic libraries serving business majors.
