From School Library Journal:
Grade 7 Up A sophisticated and eclectic grouping of fine poetry from a wide range of cultures and historic periods. Lewis provides some definitions for words which are archaic or unfamiliar to North Americans and includes a few footnotes on points of fact which interest her in particular poems. Her introductory remarks suppose a serious knowledge of poetry in her readers, or at least a sincere interest which has already been fed; this is not a book for beginning poetry lovers. However, for reference and for true lovers of poetry, Lewis' collection will pique interest and give pleasure for the quality of selections.
