From AudioFile:
Psychoanalyst Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson offers listeners an enthralling glimpse into the world of fatherhood through his in-depth study of the ways of the animal world. Examining first the emperor penguins and the protective role of the males of this species, Masson moves through the animal kingdom, looking at both good fathers and bad fathers. Jeffery Demunn takes this ripe material and makes it bloom, reading with the relish and enthusiasm that transforms a serious study into required listening. He smooths out the rough edges of the abridgment, while keeping the tone intellectual and scientific, even when Masson assigns human emotions to his subjects. H.L.S.
