In 1944 the Allies had a Clandestine Flotilla based in Corsica to land agents and pick up escaped prisoners-of-war, crashed Allied aircrew and people evading the Gestapo. The highly dangerous work was done in the ten days over the dark of the moon every month, along the coasts of enemy-occupied France and Italy. When the moon was bright, the Flotilla and the women who supported them ashore released the tension with parties and love affairs. As the Flotilla became more successful, they took more risks, and this is the story of their most dangerous operation.
