This smooth self-help book explores reasons for loneliness (we fear rejection) and typical patterns of self-defeating behavior behind which people hide. Occupying about half the book is an analysis of these patterns--here popularly dubbed those of the romancer, the pleaser, the loner, and the loser and illustrated by detailed case histories. There is nothing particularly new here, and despite the religious publisher no explicit exploration of how faith can help. But for libraries with heavy demand in this area, this is another acceptable title to stock the shelves.
