The Case of the Muttering Mummy (McGurk Mystery) - Softcover

Grade 4-6 Strange things begin to happen after Joey, a member of the McGurk Organization, purchases a replica of an ancient Egyptian cat from the local museum. Harrison Keech, an expert on Egyptian funerary ornaments, warns Joey about a curse associated with cats as guardians of ancient tombs and tries to dissuade him from buying the statue. Joey and his friends only half believe Keech's story until they are followed by a large shadowy figure and are spied on by a white enshrouded mummy-like being. McGurk, with his usual self-confidence, decides to set a trap. Soon the group uncovers a ring of art thieves headed by Keech and warns the owner of the museum collection in time to recover the stolen pieces. The mildly spooky episodes and the scientific deductions made by McGurk and his cronies will make this a satisfying story for fans of the series.
