The author of several previous Wooden Spoon books again draws on her Midwest-Mennonite roots for a new collection that calls up heavenly aromas of freshly baked pies, breads, cakes, and cookies. Moore, who teaches baking classes on America Online, obviously knows the value of conciseness, and her instructions are so clearly and simply stated that even baking novices can easily follow along. With a few exceptions (such as vinegar pie), the recipes are neither hard to come by nor unusual--cooks simply don't have trouble finding good recipes for oatmeal cookies, peach cobbler, or Dutch apple pie.
