Packed with fascinating facts about a wide range of migrating animals and relayed in chatty style, this attractive picture book is illustrated with handsome line-and-watercolor pictures that show each animal up close on its amazing journey. The style is engaging and personal without indulging in silly anthropomorphisms, but the exciting facts don't need constant exclamation points ("Imagine flying nonstop for five days across the ocean!" "Watch out for crustaceans!"). The amazing science speaks for itself, whether the subject is millions of army ants moving in a colony or the wonder of the arctic tern's 22,000-mile flight. Kaner also includes lots of hands-on activities, including one that helps kids understand how fish move up and down in the water.
