From Library Journal:
Server's avowed purpose is to document the importance of the screenwriter, a profession he says has had woefully little written about it. Although it is true that Hollywood moguls often denigrated screenwriters, there have indeed been many worthwile books on them. Besides those about individuals, there are Richard Corliss's excellent Talking Pictures (1974), Richard Fine's Hollywood and the Profession of Authorship (UMI Research Pr., 1985), and William Froug's A Screenwriter Looks at the Screenwriter (1972). Server's work, in the form of interviews with 12 screenwriters, is long on gossip but short on insights into the art. Marginal. Roy Liebman, California State University Library, Los Angeles
