In this book, Feinberg attempts to predict the changes that will take place in science and its effort to understand the universe which we live and all it contains. Gerald Feinberg's books are always mind-stretching and each is better than the one before. - Isaac Asimov. Feinberg was a Columbia University physicist, futurist and populist author. He spent a year as a Member of the Institute for Advanced Study, and two years at Brookhaven Laboratories. Feinberg wrote a foreword to Edgar Mitchell's book Psychic Explorations (1974) in which he endorsed psychic phenomena. Feinberg coined the term tachyon for hypothetical faster-than-light particles and analysed their quantum field properties, predicted the existence of the muon neutrino and advocated cryonics as a public service. His concept of a tachyon, a theoretical particle that travels faster than the speed of light has been advocated by some parapsychologists who claim that it could explain precognition or psychokinesis. He was a member of the Foresight Institute's advisory panel. At the time of this writing, the author, Dr. Gerald Feinberg was Professor of Physics at Columbia University. 287 pages. Few bookstore marks. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book.
