Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Poor. First Edition. RARE: PREVIOUS OWNER WAS TOP LITRARY AGENT ANNIE LAURIE WILLIAMS. Dust jacket features a line drawing in purple, blue and black ink on beige paper, author's photo on the back-- spine is darkened and wearing away at the edges, but the text remains intact. Front of dustjacket has a half-inch tear in the top right corner, exposing the blue cloth binding of the book beneath. All in all, in very good condition. Inside, the rough cut pages are as new, with no creases or stains. What is most special about the book is its history: the flyleaf has pencilled writing from the previous owner: 'To be published November 11, 1963' and a stamp that reads ANNIE LAURIE WILLIAMS, INC, her contact information, Murray Hill. This suggests that the book was in fact an advanced reading copy. Nine of the stories in this collection appeared originally in the New Yorker.
