Softcover. Condition: new. NOW COLLECTED INTO ONE VOLUME FOR THE FIRST TIME, ALL FIVE INSTALLMENTS OF EDWARD ST. AUBYN'S CELEBRATED PATRICK MELROSE NOVELSNow a Showtime TV series starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Blythe DannerEdward St. Aubyn has penned one of the most acclaimed series of the decade with the Patrick Melrose Novels. Now you can read all five novels in one volume: Never Mind, Bad News, Mother's Milk, Some Hope, and At Last.By turns harrowing and hilarious, this ambitious novel cycle dissects the English upper class. Edward St. Aubyn offers his reader the often darkly funny and self-loathing world of privilege as we follow Patrick Melrose's story of abuse, addiction, and recovery from the age of five into early middle age.The Patrick Melrose Novels are "a memorable tour de force" (The New York Times Book Review) by one of "the most brilliant English novelists of his generation" (Alan Hollinghurst).

Book
Paperback. Export ed. This is the eagerly anticipated new novel from the Man Booker-shortlisted author of Mother's Milk. For Patrick Melrose, 'family' is more than a double-edged sword. As friends, relations and foes trickle in to pay final respects to his mother, Eleanor - an heiress who forsook the grandeur of her upbringing for 'good works', freely bestowed upon everyone but her own child - Patrick finds that his transition to orphanhood isn't necessarily the liberation he had so long imagined. Yet as the service ends and the family gather for a final party, as conversations are overheard, danced around and concertedly avoided, amidst the social niceties and the social horrors, the calms and the rapids, Patrick begins to sense a new current. And at the end of the day, alone in his rooftop bedsit, it seems to promise some form of safety, at last. One of the most powerful reflections on pain and acceptance, and the treacheries of family, ever written, At Last is the brilliant culmination of the Melrose books. It is a masterpiece of glittering dark comedy and profound emotional truth. 2011. A trade paperback copy in fine, unmarked and unread condition.

First Edition Signed
8vo. 5 volumes, set. First editions, first impressions. Original hardcovers. Volumes 1-3 published by Heinemann, 4 & 5 by Picador. Volumes 3-5 signed in ink on the title page. The spine of the d/w of Never Mind is very slightly faded. The foot of the spine of Bad News is just a little pushed and there is an ink stamp for the Edinburgh branch of Waterstone's on the rear free endpaper. Contents clean and free from ownership marks or inscriptions. Fine in fine d/ws. The television films with Benedict Cumberbatch didn't hide the verbal and physical abuse but only the original novels have the acid sharpness of the author's prose.

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. A set of fine to very fine first printings in likewise unclipped dust wrappers. All are all SIGNED by Edward St. Aubyn to the title page, all in unclipped dust wrappers, indeed the scarce second volume - Bad News is really special as it is a personally first SIGNED 'Teddy' as St. Aubyn is known by the family to Michael who also appears to have signed underneath St. Aubyns signature as well. A really outstanding set in superb gift condition, scarce to find a complete signed set of firsts, together with an interview by Ian Parker titled 'Inheritance' featured in The New Yorker Magazine dated June 2 2014 - rare for St Aubyn to give interviews.
